Simple & Pocket Friendly Bedroom Make-Over

Simple & Pocket Friendly Bedroom Make-Over

Our perfect bedroom décor dreams always seem a little out of reach. Maybe it’s because we don’t know where to start, or we don’t want to break the bank, or quite simply we don’t have the time.  So why not have all three of those reasons solved in one go?

The simple truth is that it is a matter of a couple of little things making all the difference to your space. The first step is figuring out what your dream room looks like and what style appeals to you. Once you have that decided, the options become endless

Go green

A plant here or there will make more of a difference to your bedroom.  The greenery, not to mention the planter or pot it comes in, will add a splash of color and an element of décor.  This is definitely not a bank breaking change. Look into the handmade work of local artists and small businesses for planters and plant pots.

Cushions for color

Adding a couple of cushions to your bed will instantly change the look. There’s no need to replace perfectly good sheets, just add to them and the look changes! Whether you’re going for bright colors or understated bohemian styles, you are sure to notice a big change to the overall look as soon as you enter your room. Again, keep your wallet in mind and opt for handmade cushions by small businesses.

Let there be light

The bedside lamp is one of the most underrated pieces of furniture. Lighting changes a room both during the day and at night. The most exciting part about lighting is the many styles it comes in. So, whether you’re going for a contemporary look, boho vibes, or understated Scandi there is certainly something for everyone. In terms of functionality, the right light will also make sure you head to bed a little earlier and enjoy some reading before it’s lights out.

A little rug

Once again, we are looking into a décor element that gives us the mini facelift we need. Rugs, like lighting, come in many different styles so it’s important to choose something that brings your room together and is in keeping with the style you have chosen. Rugs add an element of warmth and coziness. They also instantly make a room look and feel less bare.

No naked walls

Wall art, wall art, wall art! Never underestimate the power of a beautiful piece of art. You don’t need to go overboard and decorate every single wall. Choose one and then hang a piece that speaks to you on it. Please do not fall into the “art should be expensive trap”, that is simply not true. Look to your community or local artists and find a piece that you want to make part of your home.
