This fair trade Zulu basket is approximately 30cm tall (including the lid) and 30cm at its widest point.
Zulu Ukhamba baskets, also called Zulu beer baskets are known for their beauty and durability. Traditionally used to store liquid such as water or sorghum beer these baskets are rendered watertight by the tightness of the coil-weave.
Made by hand using all-natural indigenous material. Even the dyes are made from materials found in nature such as flowers, petals and mud.
It can take upwards of 1 month to make a medium sized Ukhamba basket. Each basket telling a story using traditional Zulu patters.
Made in the heart of Zululand, Southern Africa. These baskets are collectible works of art.
Each basket comes with a tag including a description of the designs used as well as the name of the weaver. A true collector’s item!
